Exceptional Days, Themed Weeks & Events

Regularly throughout the school year we plans exceptional days and weeks when we provide a carousel of activities based around the theme.

Children remember what they enjoy so we have great fun making it fun for them!

Healthy Living & Eco Week

We all had a super week learning how to care for ourselves and the world we live in. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning how to use waste resources to make other things in their Eco Workshops. We made a wind chime for the sensory garden, which looks amazing , and many different box craft models.

We also hosted a book swap and each class ensured the school was litter free. To top it off we excised everyday with the 10 minute shake up and took part in the Golden Boot, a scheme promoted by Surrey to encourage healthy and green travel to school.

World Book Day

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

Remembrance Day

On Remembrance Day the whole school congregated on the school playground to hear one verse from the poem For the Fallen.

They shall grown not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

We will remember them, followed by a minute silence and the playing of the Last Post.  The service was led by Mr Scanlan, our Chair of Governors and Mr O'Brien

Road Safety Week

During the Autumn term we hold a Road Safety Week where we plan a number of interactive activities to help the children understand how to stay safe around the roads.  During our road safety week this year we carried out the following activities:

  • We all crossed the road with our Lollipop Lady.  She helped us understand the rules of the road safety.

  • Our local Police Community Safety Officer visited the school and gave an assembly on Road Safety.

  • We had a Road Safety poster competition and the winners posters are on display outside our school.

Reindeer Charity Run

Each year, just before Christmas, we start the festive spirit by completing a Reindeer Run.  This is a sponsored event organised by the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and raises money for their charity.

Fantastic Friday

During our Fantastic Friday we explored our six Modern British Values with the children and also launched our Values Hand. Each year group worked together to create a carousel of activities focusing on our school values.
